The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday.

The council discussed the Hillcrest Pedestrian Median, regarding the difficulty of trucks and farm equipment going through the area in addition to pedestrian and vehicle safety. The council gave direction to grind down the pedestrian median and gather more information if additional modifications are necessary after the harvest season.

A vote to terminate the contract with Kiya Koda for animal control services in the city failed despite a 3-2 majority, with the vote requiring four votes to pass. Councilman Armstrong and Councilwoman Sones voted against the resolution.

A contract with the Animal Rescue League of Iowa is currently being reviewed by city staff, with members of council citing their review of the contract and training for the Indianola Police Department for their nay vote, and indicated the issue will be brought back before the council when the contract is ready for approval. the council gave direction to city staff to continue pursuit of the services from the ARL for animal control of vicious dogs.

The council approved the appointment of Paul Cravens to the Indianola Board of Trustees and Pickard Commerce Park Plat 1, in addition to going into closed session to discuss litigation.
