Pella in Pink, presented by the Pella Regional Health Center Foundation, will be held again this year at the Cordova Park Pavilion at Lake Red Rock (1378 Hwy. G28, Otley).

The event will start at 2 pm on Sunday, October 5th and will include a brief inspirational program, family-friendly activities for all ages, and a 1.2-mile nature hike around Karr Trail. The goal of the event is to raise awareness of breast cancer and support patients through expanding breast care programming at Pella Regional. This year, all funds raised through the event will be used to support the capital campaign to bring the South Central Iowa Radiation Center to Pella Regional’s campus in partnership with Knoxville Hospital & Clinics.

The Breast Care Program helps women access essential screening, diagnostic, and treatment services close to home at Pella Regional Health Center. Past support for Pella in Pink has helped the hospital offer digital mammography, breast ultrasound, and bone density services. Pella Regional offers surgical treatment and breast reconstruction under one anesthesia through a partnership with general surgeons and a specialist in plastic surgery and oncology services through infusion such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Pella Regional has grown to offer a high-risk program that now includes screening breast MRIs in addition to the diagnostic MRIs that are already being utilized. They also review personal and family history to determine eligibility for genetic testing and offer a consultation with their breast specialist to develop a personal plan for risk management. Additionally, Pella Regional has recently implemented a mastectomy fitting service as part of the program.

Those planning to attend the event are asked to register by September 5th, and a link to sign up can be found here. Event shirt pick up will be Thursday, October 2nd from 3:30–5:30 pm at Pella Regional’s Main Entrance located at 404 Jefferson Street.
