The Knoxville Community School District has created a new online resource to provide residents with information about the general obligation bond referendum on the ballot November 4th.

The website, available at www.knoxvillebond.org, offers a source for updates on Knoxville CSD’s proposal to construct a new facility to replace Northstar Elementary School using funds provided by a voter-approved bond measure. Visitors will find project plans and architectural renderings, information on the potential tax impact of the bond, answers to frequently asked questions, and a form to submit questions.

“We are incredibly excited to debut this new platform for our community members,” said Superintendent Cassi Pearson. “We hope they will use it to learn more about the challenges our students and staff face every day at Northstar Elementary and the solutions that are possible through an approved bond issue this November.”

Northstar Elementary has served the Knoxville community since the early 1960s. However, a 2024 facility assessment documented more than $22 million worth of deficiencies and infrastructure needs at the site. The school also lacks modern safety and security systems, and accessibility for all students remains a challenge. As part of the facility planning process, an advisory task force that included community members studied the issues at Northstar Elementary last spring. It recommended constructing a new school in the Veterans District that is conducive to 21st century education and selling the Northstar building.
