Ryan Timms is called Flyin’ Ryan, and he flew Wednesday night winning night one of the 64th Running of the Nos Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals heard live on KNIA. Timms started 8th and it only took him to lap ten to get the lead from Justin Peck. From there on, he was in a zone by himself running down and slicing through lapped traffic. Timms told KNIA/KRLS in victory lane it was a fast race car.

Timms: “That’s awesome, this thing is so fast. I got a good start and was able to hunt them down, and wow this is just awesome.”

Peck settled for 2nd while Sheldon Haudenschild ran 3rd. David Gravel crashed in his heat race and was unable to make it to the A-Main on Wednesday. After night one, Timms leads the points with 487 while Haudenschild is 2nd with 469 and Corey Day stands in 3rd with 468. The other half of the entrants will go through the same format as tonight and after tonight’s action the top 16 in points will be locked into the A-Main on Saturday and drivers ranked 17-through-26 will be slotted into the first five rows of Saturday’s B-Main.
