Counting down the top 10 sports stories of the year for Simpson College, continuing with #2.

The Simpson women’s soccer team had another stellar season, going 15-3-3 falling only to #5 Loras once in the regular season and again in heartbreaking fashion in the American Rivers Conference championships, but earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Storm matched up with an old rival in Wisconsin-LaCrosse in the opening round. After a scoreless first half, both teams would find the back of the net in the second half to force overtime, then the score remained 1-1 after the first overtime period. In the 101st minute, fifth-year senior star Cassie Nash made a run into the box, and scored to send the Storm into the round of 32.

The Storm fell to eventual champion #1 Wash U in the next contest to end their season.
