Additional rounds of heavy rainfall are set to impact the area primarily starting overnight tonight into Monday. While scattered storms are possible during the day, the best chance for more intense precipitation will start late this evening and continue periodically over the following 36 hours. Widespread rainfall amounts of one-to-two inches remain likely for most locations, with higher amounts possible depending on the final track of thunderstorms. According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, statewide precipitation averaged 9.20 inches in July, or 4.83 inches above normal, meaning many rivers and streams are at higher flow and soil remains saturated. The potential for flash flooding and river rises continues to increase, with a Flood Watch in effect for portions of eastern into southern/central Iowa this afternoon through Monday afternoon.

According to the Marion County Road Department, the following closures have been impacted by flooding:

Kennedy from 150th to S71
Elk Horn from Park Hills to Dubuque
115th from Illinois to G40
