Indianola Parks and Rec is hosting the next edition of their Afternoon Adventures Speaker Series later this month, featuring Iowa and the underground railroad. Jamie Michelsen with Indianola Parks and Rec tells KNIA News storyteller Darrin Crow will share the story of Julia’s Escape, the story of two enslaved families fleeing to freedom with the help of the brave citizens of Salem, Iowa in 1848. The program is sponsored by Community 1st Credit Union and Oak St Health, and will be on August 26th at 1pm at the Indianola Activity Center.
