Trying to build back a once proud football program is not an easy task. Melcher-Dallas Football Coach Jason Mason is in his 2nd year of the reclamation project and after 2-8 season last year, he is looking for more. Mason will have to replace the quarterback as Brody Johnson graduated last season. The next QB1 for the Saints will be Reece Chiabotta. Chiabotta is no stranger to calling as he went 20/54 446 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 140 yards plus was one of the top receivers last year with 272 yards. Mason tells KNIA Sports Chiabotta would not have much pressure on him with his experience and knowing how the offense runs.

Mason: “He’s got a good arm on him. We don’t ask too much from our quarterbacks, with 8 man being so fast, but he can do just about anything we ask”

The Saints will start the season on August 29th against Lamoni. That is one of four home games this season along with Baxter on September 12th Southeast Warren September 19th, and Wayne October 10th. Melcher-Dallas will also hold a Gatorade Scrimmage on August 22nd against Murray.
