An award-winning independent filmmaker from Newton is working with over 30 kids for her next production. Tiffany Ketcham’s first film, which she made while she was in college in 2011, was named Best Independent Film in Iowa. She got back into filmmaking with her second film last year after a 10-year break. The movie was called “The Gates”, and won the Cedar Rapids Film Festival and was nominated for Best Film in Iowa. Ketcham plans to debut her third movie, called “Littles”, with the local children of Jasper County in January at Newton’s Capitol II Theatre.

“Our main character wakes up. She has a spouse and children. She goes to work in an office and teaches dance classes at night. But as it turns out, her and everyone around her is 10 to 11 years old.”

Ketcham wrote the script and is directing and producing the film. The cast, which includes 30 kids from 5 to 12 years old, was selected in May and has been rehearsing since then in preparation for filming in Newton next month. Learn more about the film from Ketcham on today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
