The Pella City Council will discuss proposed changes to the Pella Community Services department at their meeting Tuesday.

During a policy and planning work session, the council will receive a proposal from city administration relating to changes to the leadership structure responsible for the community’s parks and recreation staff.

The biggest change would be the creation of a new recreation department, in connection with construction of the new indoor recreation and aquatic center facility. A director would be hired this fall to assist with other city functions and to develop a plan to operate the rec center. The city is also planning to advertise for a new community services director.
