Construction is underway for the new Kwik Star in Knoxville. Groundwork and construction for the new store, gas station, and car wash started on July 28th. Last September, the Kwik Star site plan was approved by the Knoxville City Council, which will include the retail store, 20 spots for fueling, and a car wash. The land that the store is being built on was formerly owned by the Knoxville Community School District and private ownership, and was sold to the convenience store chain for $400,000. Kwik Trip stores in Iowa are named Kwik Stars due to branding competition with an already existing company. The Wisconsin-based group has seen rapid growth in the Midwest over the last decade. Construction is also underway at the new Kwik Star store in Pella at the Highway 163 and Washington Street interchange.
