
The Knoxville City Council approved a site plan for a new Casey’s store at their meeting Monday. The new Casey’s will be located at 1600 S Lincoln St., which will replace the old Knoxville Veterinary Clinic. With the new Casey’s, the council also held a public hearing and approved rezoning the property to C-2 General Commercial. It was not discussed at the meeting if the new Casey’s would affect any of the current three Casey’s stores in Knoxville. Also at the meeting, the council held a public hearing and no action was taken in regards to rezoning of 202 E Washington St. which would be the potential site of a new thrift store to support the Marion County Humane Society, heard a mayoral reading of a National Water and Wastewater Workers Week Proclamation, and approved a resolution in support of a Rural Innovation Housing Grant to be submitted to the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) by the city on behalf of the Knoxville Preservation Foundation for a Housing Project in Knoxville.
