Kicking off a busy week, the Pella Christian girls tennis squad defeated Dallas Center-Grimes 7-4 in their home opener Monday afternoon.

Improving to 3-0 overall on the season, the Eagles took four of the six singles matches against the Mustangs, before finishing off the victory with three wins in doubles play. In the top spot in the singles lineup, Ava Breems traded a pair of 6-3 sets with her opponent to open the day, before winning the super-tiebreaker 10-5 to move to 3-0 in singles matches. Trinley Gibson also remained unbeaten in singles play on Monday, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win at #3. The other two victories in the singles lineup came from Chloe Nikkel and Kate Braafhart at #4 and #5, with each winning the first set 6-4, before Nikkel won her second set 6-0 and Braafhart took her second set 6-1. In doubles play, Pella Christian swept the top three spots in lineup, with Ava Breems and Lexi Branderhorst winning 6-4, 6-3 at #1, Gibson and Nikkel winning 6-1, 6-2 at #2, and Braafhart and Elsa Breems winning 6-2, 6-4 at #3. In addition to moving to 3-0 overall on the year, the win also pushed the Eagles to 1-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference play.

Pella Christian returns home on Wednesday to host Grinnell, before hosting Norwalk on Thursday and co-hosting at the Tulip City Tussle with Pella High on Saturday.
