A Kellogg company will be removing a portion of the small parking area that was used for the pickleball and tennis courts at Newton’s Aurora Park. As part of the tennis court rehabilitation project, the city acquired a 10-foot-wide strip of the adjacent private property to support long-term site planning and improve public access. Newton city staff says this acquisition has created a clear boundary between public and private land, which previously shared a common driveway. By removing the small parking lot, Newton Community Development staff feels a clear and defined property line will be established, eliminating shared access concerns, while also supporting future improvements or development on the land. Annee Construction of Kellogg was the lowest of three bidders at $14,330.
