The construction of the patio on the south side of the new clubhouse at Westwood Golf Course is nearing completion, and now furniture for it is going to be acquired. The Newton City Council has spent just under $52,000 on adding the patio overlooking the golf course, and another $35,778 has now been approved for patio furniture, which will be acquired by the city through Christine Pletcher DeZign of Newton. Westwood Golf Pro Brad Sponseller says the patio offers a great view anyone can enjoy.
“We are going to have about as many tables and chairs on the outside as we do inside. We are going to have a little fire pit in the middle of it. This is for everybody. If you are not a golfer, come out and have a pizza or a Chicago Dog and enjoy one of the best views in Jasper County.”
The furniture will include black iron mesh tables, armchairs, adirondack chairs, end tables, and umbrella bases. Christine Pletcher DeZign and City staff worked with a number of vendors to provide some sponsored umbrellas for the furniture, which had no cost to the city. Staff also notes that the furniture will have the same color and theme of the interior of the clubhouse.
