Construction progress continues to be made at the new Residences of Veterans Park senior housing development in Knoxville.

According to an update given by the project contractor Overland Group LLC, last week, the parking lot was graded and proof rolled, and gravel is now in place, ready for concrete and work has begun on the plumbing rough-in under the slab. The surveyors were on-site Monday to mark the curb and gutters, while the electrician installed conduit for parking lot lights. Additionally, irrigation is being set up for the parking lot islands, and they’re continuing with the under-slab plumbing along with concrete work for the parking lot starting this week.

This project is Overland’s first Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) development in Iowa. The Residence at Veterans Park is part of the expansive Veterans District, a 152-acre transformation of the former VA Hospital campus into a diverse housing community. Featuring 48 units (39 one-bedroom and 9 two-bedroom apartments), this building will include amenities such as an onsite leasing office, community room, fitness center, and dog walking park.

Also on this block will be a Hugerich Holdings LLC apartment building, with market rate apartments and townhouses.
