In a span of 24 hours, the Newton girls tennis team played close, 6-5 matchups. Following a narrow loss to Ballard on Wednesday, the Cardinals bounced back late against Oskaloosa to find a victory on Thursday.

Newton was up 4-2 after the singles matchups, with wins by Brooklyn Sterling, Sloan Brodersen, Kaetlin McPartlin, and Ava Williams, but dropped three consecutive doubles matches at #3, #4, and #5. The Cardinals found wins at #1 and #2 doubles late to win, including the duo of Morgan Frehse/Sterling and Broderson/McPartin.

Newton returns to the courts on Monday at Boone.
