The Pella Christian girls tennis squad suffered their first loss of the season Thursday evening, falling 7-4 at home against Norwalk.

Despite falling to 4-1 overall as a team, Eagles senior Ava Breems remained unbeaten in singles play, taking her matchup in the top spot in the lineup 6-0, 6-3. Fellow senior Chloe Nikkel was the other Pella Christian player to win in singles play, winning at #4 by a score of 6-1, 6-4. In doubles action, Kate Braafhart and Elsa Breems needed a super-tiebreaker to secure the win at #3, while Ava Nikkel and Clair Van Wyngarden won at #4 doubles in two sets. After dropping the first set 4-6, Braafhart and Breems battled back to take the second set 6-4, then won the third set 12-10 to secure the win. Ava and Clair took their first set at #4 doubles 7-6, before cruising to a 6-1 victory in the second set.

The Eagles will look to bounce back on Saturday, co-hosting the Tulip City Tussle with Pella High at 9 am.
