This week is National Water and Wastewater Workers of Iowa week.
The annual proclamation signed by Governor Kim Reynolds honors the water and wastewater workers in the state.
At Monday night’s Knoxville City Council meeting, a proclamation was read to honor this annual week which stated, “the State of Iowa’s surface and ground waters are a treasured and limited natural resource; and protecting and preserving those water resources requires the talent, expertise, and passion of individuals who have committed their professional careers in service to the state’s residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural citizens; and, the water and wastewater workforce of Iowa has dedicated itself to applying environmental passion and science to enhance the drinking and recreational waters of Iowa; and their applied environmentalism continues to be a vital element in improving the quality of life and preserving and protecting public health in our state, and promoting sustainability in our way of living.”
A certificate was then presented to Knoxville Water Reclamation Superintendent Patrick Murphy.
