The annual Your Life Matters 5K will happen Saturday morning in Knoxville.

The event will be held at Knoxville High School starting at 8:00 am and this year’s theme is “Broken Crayons Still Color.” Your Life Matters is a local organization that helps spread awareness and provide resources for the importance of mental health and suicide prevention in Knoxville and surrounding areas, with an emphasis on young people. Participants can either run or walk the 5K or participate in a one mile fun run.

The cost is $30 for those over 18, $25 for those 11-18, and kids 10 and under are free. Amy Davis will be a speaker at the event. who is a mental health therapist and was personally affected by suicide. Those who didn’t register ahead of time can do so in-person Saturday morning starting at 7:00 am. The event will also include a free pancake breakfast, Dinky Donuts, and face painting and inflatables for the kids. Michaela Bigaouette with Your Life Matters encourages everyone to come out to the event, which she says is a powerful day of awareness and healing.

“I think this day is very impactful for a lot of friends and families who have lost loved ones and it’s an opportunity for them to come together. It’s a day of healing, it’s a day of connection for our participants and it’s often a day of celebration. The more people we can get to come, even if you do not want to do the 5K or the fun run we really encourage you to show up, see what we’re all about, and hopefully we can get you back in next year.”

The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio will be at the Your Life Matters 5K for music and announcements.
