The PCM girls and boys cross country teams will open their 2025 seasons at Knoxville Monday.
The Mustang boys and girls teams will compete at the Knoxville Early Bird Meet at Pine Knolls Golf Club that will feature four total teams including Knoxville, Pekin, and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. The PCM girls are coming off a seventh place finish at the state meet last year and will bring back everyone this season. The Mustang girls come in ranked third in the preseason poll and junior Lila Milani is ranked 27th individually. The boys team will also bring back almost everyone from last year and were a team who made significant improvements throughout the season in 2024. When talking about the girls team, head coach Eric Osterhaus says the girls aren’t satisfied with seventh place.
“The bar is set pretty high for this season. We bring everybody back, everybody is a year older, and everybody now has the experience of the state meet under their belt. Seventh place is awesome, but they aren’t satisfied with seventh place so we are going to work and do all of the little things that we can do to make sure that we are there when championship season rolls around and see what they can do.”
Monday’s meet in Knoxville starts at 5:00 pm.
