The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is not currently making any comments relating to a Knoxville officer-involved shooting that happened Thursday night.

This past May, Governor Kim Reynolds signed HF 549, providing a 180-day deadline for the prosecutor to issue a report detailing the results of the legal review of an officer-involved shooting. Until the prosecutor issues the report, the DCI cannot comment on any pending investigations, and there is no scheduled updated release from them at this time.

On Thursday at 11:10 pm, the Knoxville Police Department responded to a domestic dispute in the 300 Block of S. Roche Street. Officers say they encountered a man attacking a woman. During the interaction, a Knoxville Police Officer fired his weapon, striking the male. Police say they rendered immediate medical care and contacted Knoxville Fire and Rescue. The man who was hit by gunfire was transported to a Des Moines-area hospital, but was pronounced dead from his injuries.

KNIA/KRLS will release additional details once official information has been shared or updated.
