
The Indianola volleyball team fell to #4 in class 5A Ankeny Centennial on the road in their season opening contest Monday evening 3-1, while the Indianola girls tennis team fell in Little Hawkeye Conference action to Pella Christian 7-4.
The Jaguars won the first game 25-17 despite a back-and-forth contest, but the Indians answered in game two maintaining a lead nearly the entire contest and winning 26-24. Game three was tied until late, when the Jaguars pulled away for a 25-19 victory, and Indianola was up 20-15 late in game four to try and force a fifth game, but the Jaguars went on a 10-1 run to end the match 25-21.
Indianola falls to 0-1 on the season, and will next compete at the SE Polk Quad on Thursday.
The Indians girls tennis team had a good start in singles action against the Eagles, with Emily Allen, Chloe Chaplin, and Kendall Hibbs all winning to have the match tied at 3-3 going into doubles, but the pairing of Ashley Schultz and Peyton Rinard were the only duo to have success as the Indians fell. Indianola falls to 2-4 on the season, and travels to Dallas Center-Grimes Thursday.
