Winning 10 matches in straight sets, the Norwalk girls tennis team easily defeated Dallas Center-Grimes 10-1 on Monday, improving to 3-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference play and 7-1 overall.

The Warriors swept all six singles matches with only one close set out of 12. Winners included Logan Geisler, Kierdyn Stockwell, Leah Black, Elena Harder, Brooke McKinney and Savannah Wright. Norwalk’s winning doubles teams were Geisler and Stockwell, Black and Harder, Jacey Crane and McKinney, and Emily Badger and Teyla Dvorak. The Warriors’ only loss on the day came in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 4 doubles.

Norwalk Singles Wins – Logan Geisler 6-3, 6-0; Kierdyn Stockwell 6-1, 6-2; Leah Black 6-1, 6-1; Elena Harder 6-0, 6-2; Brooke McKinney 7-5, 6-1; Savannah Wright 6-3, 6-3.

Norwalk returns to action on Friday for a 2:00 p.m. dual at Waukee.

Cross Country, Volleyball open season today

Norwalk’s cross country and volleyball teams open the season later today. The cross country teams will compete in the Ankeny Centennial Jaguar Invite on the DMACC Ankeny campus. The first race begins at 5:00 p.m. The Warrior girls are ranked 15th in Class 4A while the boys begin the season ranked ninth. The Class 4A fifth-ranked Norwalk volleyball team opens their season at 5A fifth-ranked Dowling Catholic. First serve is slated for 7:30.
