While the Pella Christian girls tennis team begin their first fall season earlier this month, the rest of the fall sports team on Eagle Lane are set to begin their seasons later this week.

The ranked Eagles cross country squads will open the season on Thursday at the Marshalltown Early Bird meet. Running at Marshalltown Community College, the Class 2A #4 Pella Christian girls will compete against 12 other teams, including Class 3A #10 North Polk and Class 2A #15 Grundy Center, while the 2A #8 Eagle boys race against 10 schools including Class 4A #13 Marshalltown. The Pella Christian football team will follow that up with their first game as a Class 2A squad on Friday night, hosting Roland-Story. Eagles head football coach Rich Kacmarynski says that all of the fall sports teams are looking forward to a great school year for athletics on Eagle Lane.

“I really look at it as our responsibility as football, volleyball and cross country to kind of get our fall campaign kicked off and we’ve got tennis too, but we want to get things going and build excitement for the school. So, I’m looking forward to a great school year.”

The Eagles volleyball team wraps up the opening week of sports at Pella Christian on Saturday, competing in the 16-team Bondurant-Farrar Tournament.
