The City of Indianola and Simpson College partnered for the Town and Gown Committee in December of 2023, with then Mayor Stephanie Erickson and Simpson President Jay Byers, and current Mayor Steve Richardson says the partnership is continuing in 2025. Mayor Richardson tells KNIA News new Simpson College President Sue Stuebner is ready to embrace getting the new and returning students more connected to the city.

“President Stuebner is very supportive of what we are trying to do. We’ve got some things to do yet, of course she came on just recently and she is still on that fire hose trying to make things work. Jake Meshke, our City Manager, and I are wanting to meet with President Stuebner and have a little more time to figure out exactly how this is going to play out. But the students are back on campus right now.”
