The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved matching grant funds for Habitat for Humanity of Marion County at their meeting Tuesday.
The request is for County Low Moderate Income (LMI) matching grant funds for the Central Iowa Housing Trust Fund grant. The Central Iowa Housing Trust Fund (CIHTF) recently announced the availability of $50,000 in additional funds that Habitat for Humanity of Marion County anticipates applying for to use for Critical Home Repair. The county funding that was approved was for $10,000 of a local match.
To date in 2025, the organization has spent $251,885 on 20 projects in Marion County and has ten projects in progress. Five of these are outside the city limits of Pella, Knoxville, Pleasantville and Melcher-Dallas, with a total spend of $51,270. CIHTF requires a local match of 27.8% so the county funding at this time would both cover the past projects in rural Marion County and also allow them to complete additional projects.
