For the first time this fall, two Pella Christian sports programs will be in action today, as the girls tennis and boys and girls cross country teams are set to compete this afternoon.

The Eagles girls tennis squad begin today’s action by hosting Oskaloosa, in what will be one of their final regular season dual meets of the year. Following today’s match, Pella Christian will host Newton on September 4th, before concluding regular season action on September 8th at Pella. The 5-1 Eagles enter the match fresh off of a 7-4 victory over Indianola on Monday, while the 1-3 Indians are coming off an 11-0 loss to Pella earlier this week.

Meanwhile, the ranked Pella Christian cross country squads will open their season today at the Marshalltown Early Bird meet at Marshalltown Community College. The Class 2A #4 Eagle girls will compete against 12 other teams, including Class 3A #10 North Polk and Class 2A #15 Grundy Center, while the 2A #8 Pella Christian boys race against 10 schools, including Class 4A #13 Marshalltown.

The Pella Christian girls tennis team’s match today against Oskaloosa is scheduled to start at 4:15 pm, while the Eagles cross country meet at Marshalltown will start shortly thereafter at 4:30 pm.
