The Norwalk volleyball team went 3-0 at Thursday’s Southeast Polk Quad while the boys golfers placed fourth at the Waukee Northwest Invitational.

Volleyball wins three

The Class 4A fifth-ranked Warrior volleyball team improved to 3-1 overall with their three wins. They beat Southeast Polk 25-16, 25-20 and also swept Class 3A sixth-ranked Humboldt 25-21, 25-19. Norwalk finished the quad by defeating Indianola for the first time in 11 tries since 2021. The Indians took the first set 25-21 before the Warriors took control to win 25-16, 15-7.

Norwalk coach John Fulton cited a great team effort by his team, pointing out the serve receive efficiency of Reese Heim, Ava Carlson and Elle Hatlevig to keep things running smoothly. Fulton also credited the defensive play of middles Jillian Hammond and Myla Brown and the setting of Hadley Michael.

The Warriors will compete at the Ankeny Centennial Tournament on Saturday, starting at 9:00 a.m.

Golfers shoot 303

All six Norwalk golfers shot in the 70s as the Warriors placed fourth out of 13 teams in the Northwest Invitational at The Legacy Golf Club. Norwalk finished with a solid score of 303, paced by Tillman Papcun’s sixth-place round of 73. Ian Lux carded a 75, Lane Juergens shot a 77 and Parker Cary, Dayton Poen and Rohan Tiedt all added a 78.

The Warriors travel to Fort Dodge for their next meet on Tuesday.
