All city and county offices throughout Jasper County will be closed Monday for the Labor Day Holiday. In Newton, the Newton Public Library and the Newton Sanitary Landfill will also be closed. In addition, the city council meeting that’s normally held on the first Monday of every month, will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 2nd instead. 

The Newton DMACC Campus will be closed for the holiday. In Prairie City, the Labor Day holiday will delay garbage, yard waste, and recycling pick up until Thursday, September 4th.
