
Greenville University (Ill.) scored off an own goal and a penalty kick to push past the Central College men’s soccer team 2-1 Monday afternoon.
Central (1-1-0) outshot Greenville (1-1-0) 10-6 and led 3-2 on corner kicks but it wasn’t enough. The Panthers were credited with a goal in the 18th minute when a Central defender deflected a pass into the net. The lead stretched to 2-0 on a converted penalty kick in the 75th minute. The Dutch got on the board in the 78th minute when midfielder Cooper Collins curled in a free kick from just outside the box for his second goal of the season.
Central hosts Grinnell College for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday.
