The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of an inmate. Jasper County Sheriff Brad Shutts says the name of the inmate is being withheld pending notification of all family members. At approximately 12:08 a.m. Tuesday, September 2nd, Sheriff Shutts says the jail requested medical care for an inmate that was unresponsive. The inmate was later pronounced deceased. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death with the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations, and Sheriff Shutts says no further investigation is currently available.
