Normally a conference opener does not have a lot riding on it, unless it is two of the South Central Conference volleyball favorites going into this season. While the conference title will not be clinched tonight winner between Knoxville and Davis County will go a long way to securing a title for one of the squads. Panthers coach Mollie Keitges tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the SCC is a much more competitive conference but to start with a co-favorite does add a little spice to the home opener. She adds Davis County is not a team to be taken lightly and tonight with a win is the first step to get the conference title back in Knoxville.

Keitges: The conference is a lot closer and Davis County is very solid. I got to see them a couple of times this summer, but we like to think we’re one of the teams everyone is gunning for and want to bring the conference title back home.”

First serve is set for 7:15. Just across the street at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts, the Panther girls will host Oskaloosa. Knoxville is looking for its first non-conference dual win of the season after falling to Little Hawkeye Conference teams Pella Christian and Grinnell earlier in the fall.
