The Norwalk Boys Golf Team is in action again this morning as they travel to the Fort Dodge Country Club for the Fort Dodge Invitational, beginning at 10 am. A 15-team tournament, this is the largest Norwalk has participated in so far this season. They will compete against many familiar opponents, including Waukee Northwest, Dallas Center-Grimes, Indianola, Ankeny, and Ankeny Centennial, all of whom they’ve competed against in the past seven days.
The boys most recently tied for 9th place with Indianola at the Johnston Invitational at Jester Park on Wednesday, scoring 316. Senior Parker Cary posted a team-best for the meet with a score of 76, shooting four strokes over par. Junior, Tillman Papcun, currently remains the team’s leader in average for 18 holes, with an average of just under 74 strokes across four rounds.
In addition to their contest this morning, the Warriors will also compete against Roosevelt tomorrow morning at 8:30 am at the Waveland Golf Course.
The Norwalk volleyball team is also competing today as they travel to Pella to open Little Hawkeye Conference play. Pella is currently ranked 3rd in 4A. The first serve is set for 7:15 pm.
Currently ranked 5th in Class 4A, the Warriors finished with a 2-3 record at Saturday’s Ankeny Centennial Tournament, losing three matches to opponents ranked in the top 7 of Class 5A. Elle Hatlevig recorded a team-high of 29 kills and seven ace serves, while Reese Heim had a team-high 23 digs.
The Warriors are 5-4 so far this season.
