
Multiple Indianola fall sports teams were in action Tuesday.
The Indianola boys golf team took home a sixth place finish as a team, and saw Jackson Buchanan earn meet medalist honors with a two-under par 69, with the team scoring a 311. Daltry Tupper shot a 78, and Hank Gorder and Hayden Stockberger each carded an 82. The Indians next hit the links next Tuesday at Ottumwa.
The Indianola boys and girls cross country teams competed at Dallas Center-Grimes, both placing 5th. Michaela Appel paced the girls with a 10th place finish, Keira Labertew was 19th, and Mabel Hartman was 22nd. Sam Larson was the leader on the boys side with a 13th place finish, Isaac Johnson was 20th, and Grayson Hoover was 25th. Both teams head to Urbandale on Saturday.
The Indianola volleyball team swept Newton to begin Little Hawkeye Conference play Tuesday at home, winning 3-0. Set one and two were similar, with Indianola incrementally getting out in front and staying out in front, winning 25-13 and 25-14 to take a lead. Indianola then got out to a big lead in the third set, but the Cardinals made a big run to make it close but the Indians would close it out for the sweep 25-20. Indianola is now 4-7, and will travel to Dallas Center-Grimes on Tuesday.
The Indianola girls swimming team narrowly fell to Perry in their season opening triangular at Perry High School 80-78, while also earning a win against Atlantic. Top finishers for the Indians included Kaylee Dykstra in the 200 Freestyle, Olivia Costigan in the 100 Freestyle, Minna Lickiss in the 100 Backstroke, and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Dykstra, Costigan, Chloe Powers, and Serenity Turner.
The team next swims tomorrow at Grinnell.
