The Pella City Council held a public hearing at their meeting Tuesday evening to enter into a development agreement with Pella Corporation for a hangar ground lease. Following approval, Pella Corporation will construct a $4 million hangar that includes 19,200 square feet of facility space for two corporate jets, an office area, and terminal. City of Pella costs are estimated at $1.04 million, which include extension of the apron access road, a water main extension, and land grading. The project is set for final completion by September 2026.

Other agenda items on Tuesday evening’s schedule included:
– Resolution to construct indoor rec center sanitary sewer improvements
– Resolution authorizing funding agreement with HIRTA
– Change order for Sanitary Sewer Lining Project
– Iowa DOT Agreement for Pella Municipal Airport apron expansion
– 2nd reading of ordinance for zoning change near intersection of Brook Circle and Idaho Drive

A policy and planning work session was also scheduled, which included discussion of the city’s UTV ordinance and electric scooter regulations, as well as several potential partnership agreements with Marion County.
