The Knoxville Cross Country Squads are in Wayne today for a meet. The Panther boys have got top ten finishes from their top three in Isaac Rankin with two wins and Connor Schultz and Bradley Hembrook. The Panthers are set to see three other South Central Conference teams including the conference favorite Chariton. Boys Coach Michael Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports this meet will be sort of a measuring stick against the Chargers, but also hoping his team is preparing the right way to compete with the top teams in the area.

Splavec: “We’re ready for the challenge and step up to challenge everyone. Maybe we can steal some points by running up front, and see who’s going to step up and try to get us to those goals we set at the end of the year.”

Girls tennis will be hosting Albia as the Panthers try to get another victory in the South Central Conference. Knoxville notched its first non-conference win Tuesday against Oskaloosa and should have the full team for tonight’s action with the conference meet coming up on Monday. Action at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts is set to begin at 4:15.
