A new foe awaits the Pella football team in week two of the fall season, as the Dutch make the long trek north to Waverly to take on the Go-Hawks.
While it’s a football path well traveled every fall at the collegiate level, Pella High School and Waverly-Shell Rock have not crossed paths on the gridiron, and both teams are coming off of week one blowout victories. The Dutch knocked off Ballard 26-7, while the Go-Hawks blasted Bondurant-Farrar by a 45-0 score.
Pella Head Coach Ben Bollard says they’ll need to find a way to combat the strength and size of the Waverly fronts on both sides of the football to earn success.
The Dutch defense will work to contain a balanced Go-Hawk attack, led by Caleb Schipper, who threw for three touchdowns last week, and running back Mekyver Hagarty, who tallied 132 yards and added two ground scores.
Live coverage of Pella at Waverly-Shell Rock football begins at 6:30 this evening on 92.1 KRLS.
