Over half the seats on the Newton School Board will be filled later this year, by the outcome of the upcoming November 4th City and School Election. The terms of School Board President Robyn Friedman and board members Cody Muhs, Travis Padget, and Ray Whipple are expiring. Candidates for those seats can file nomination papers through Thursday, September 18th. Newton School District Director of Business Services Tim Bloom says the names of candidates who file papers will not be released until the day after that deadline. The three remaining school board seats currently being held by Josh Cantu, Donna Cook, and Kristi Meyer will be up for election in 2027.
