The Awakening Grace Foundation in Pella will hold their 5K Remembrance Color Run in Oskaloosa on October 4th.
Community members are invited to join the organization in remembering babies that have died during pregnancy or infancy, by running, walking, biking, or riding a scooter on the course. In addition to the 5K, the event will also have food trucks, music, games, and more for families to enjoy. Amber Beyer with Awakening Grace says that the run has two primary goals.
“First of all, give a chance for those families who are grieving the loss of someone to remember them. We’re doing that in a variety of different ways. Families can submit names to put on the back of our t-shirts, those names will also be read out loud before the run, and will be listed on signs along the run. The second purpose for this event is that it would be an event that’s not just for grieving families, but for the community as a whole, so that those families know that they aren’t walking alone.”
The Awakening Grace Foundation’s Remembrance Color Run in Oskaloosa will begin with day of registration at 8am in the YMCA Community Room, with the run starting at 9 am.
