
The Norwalk girls tennis team finished regular-season play with a 10-1 dual win over Oskaloosa on Monday at the Norwalk courts. The Warriors improved to 9-3 overall and finished second in Little Hawkeye Conference duals with a record of 5-1.
Norwalk number-one singles player Logan Geisler outlasted her opponent in a third-set tiebreak, winning 6-3, 0-6, 10-5. Norwalk’s nine other victories all came in straight sets, including singles wins by Kierdyn Stockwell (6-0, 6-2), Leah Black (6-0, 6-1), Elena Harder (6-0, 6-0), and Myla Brown (6-1, 6-3).
The Warriors went 5-0 in doubles play. Geisler and Stockwell won 6-1, 6-0, Black and Harder 6-2, 6-1, Brown and Jacey Crane 6-1, 6-2, Brooke McKinney and Lily Laine 6-4, 6-1, and Savannah Wright and Emily Badger 6-3, 7-5.
Norwalk will compete in Thursday’s Little Hawkeye Conference Tournament in Indianola starting at 9:00 a.m.
Boys Golf and Volleyball compete today
The Norwalk boys golf and volleyball teams are in action today. The boys golfers compete in the 11-team Ottumwa Invitational at noon. The meet is being held at the Ottumwa Golf and Social Club. The Class 4A fourth-ranked Norwalk volleyball team will finally play their first home match tonight, hosting Oskaloosa at 7:00 p.m. The Warriors are 10-5 overall and 0-1 inside the Little Hawkeye Conference.
