The City of Indianola has begun their process of hiring a new police chief after the retirement of Chief Brian Sher, with the Indianola City Council approving a search firm to begin an extensive search at their meeting Monday. City Manager Jake Meshke tells KNIA News there is a quick turnaround on appoint a chief, so city staff and the council wanted to get that process started.
“We have about a 12-week timeline, or 90 days, that we have to appoint our next police chief. The city is going to contract with MGT, they are an executive recruitment firm who will help us ensure that we have a high quality candidate pool. Then also make sure we are doing a good interview process, asking those candidates the right questions, vetting them appropriately. With the goal of bringing in a high-quality police chief.”
Captain Rob Hawkins is serving as Interim Chief until a permanent hire can be made.
