The Norwalk boys golfers placed fifth out of 12 teams in Monday’s Valley Golf Classic at Willow Creek Golf Course in West Des Moines. The Warriors ended the day with a team score of 297 trailing fourth-place Waukee by three strokes.

Seniors Parker Cary and Lane Juergens led Norwalk with scores of 73, placing 15th and 16th respectively. Coach Steve Wermerskirchen highlighted Juergens’ perseverance, stating that he had several birdies to start his round, fell back with two double-bogeys, but settled down to finish two strokes over par.

Senior Ian Lux was the next Warrior on the leaderboard, placing 18th with a score of 74. Dayton Poen, Tillman Papcun, and Rohan Tiedt placed just outside the top-30 with scores of 77, 78, and 79.

The Warriors will compete again on Wednesday in the Southeast Polk Invitational at Copper Creek Golf Club in Pleasant Hill. First tee is scheduled for 9 a.m.
