Pella Christian Football Travels to Centerville Tonight

The Pella Christian football team will seek to pick up their first win of the season on the road tonight, traveling to Centerville for a Class 2A District 7 game.

The Eagles fell to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the district last Friday, dropping their district opener to PCM 58-27. Meanwhile, the Big Reds enter the contest with unblemished records of 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the district, earning victories against Knoxville, Fairfield, Chariton, and Davis County. Centerville features one of the top offenses in 2A over the first four weeks of the season, leading the class in total touchdowns (26), while also ranking second in passing touchdowns (13) and third in both all-purpose (2,061) and passing yards (1,053). Pella Christian head coach Rich Kacmarynski said that it will take a complete effort in all phases of the game to knock-off a good Big Reds squad.

“Offensively, we need to control the line of scrimmage and control the ball. I’d like to play a little keep away [from the Centerville offense] tonight. And then obviously we’ve got to keep leverage on their receivers, get the pass rush on the quarterback, and not give up any big plays. We’ve got to make them earn everything and we need to punish their receivers when they catch the ball, and I think those are all things we can do.”
