The Simpson football team earned their first shutout since 2019 Saturday afternoon as they dominated Buena Vista from start to finish in a 41-0 victory as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The game got off to a slow start, with the Beavers missing a hold on a field goal attempt, and the Storm only managing a field goal in the first quarter to lead 3-0 after the first break. In the second quarter however, fireworks began. The Storm earned back-to-back pick-six interceptions by CJ Hangartner and MJ Burks to lead 17-0, then added another field goal before halftime to lead 20-0 at the break.

The Storm special teams unit then got in on the action, scooping up a high snap on a BV punt attempt in the endzone for a score, and quarterback Jayden Thoreson found Cole Staska for a score, and running back Demarico Young scored from 43 yards out as the defense allowed barely any Beavers offense.

Head coach Reed Hoskins said he made it a point to say after the game to celebrate the win, but always look for things to improve upon as they get into the heart of their American Rivers Conference schedule after the upcoming bye week.
The Storm are now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in ARC play, and will next play in two weeks hosting Coe after a Saturday bye.
