The construction project on the Norwalk baseball and softball fields is underway. The current focus on the project revolves around the location shift of the softball field and the auxiliary components, including the lighting. Norwalk School District Superintendent Shawn Holloway tells KNIA News while still in early stages, the project remains on schedule.

“We’re, I would say, right on our anticipated timeline. Right now, it’s a lot of dirt work and leveling dirt, so when you look out there, really what you’re looking at is the underlayment of what will eventually be there. I think we anticipate our field turf arriving in October/November. Whether that’s put down in place prior to winter or right after really will depend on weather, but I think we’re right on track with that project.”

In addition to the underlaying and auxiliary work, initial construction on the new concession stand and bathroom facility is expected to begin in the next few days and is scheduled to be completed before winter.
