The Pella Christian football team crosses the halfway point of Class 2A District 7 play tonight, as they welcome Davis County to Eagle Lane.

The Eagles enter tonight’s contest seeking their first win of the season, after falling to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in district action with a 39-24 loss at Centerville last Friday. The Mustangs are also looking for their first win of the year tonight, dropping their first five games to Pekin, Chariton, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Centerville, and Albia. While they enter their first ever meeting with the Mustangs without a win, Pella Christian head coach Rich Kacmarynski knows his team is much better than their record indicates.

“We’ve competed well, I mean we’ve gone toe to toe with everyone. We’ve gone toe to toe with (Class 2A #2) PCM. And honestly against every team, there’ve been some games that kind of got away from us in the end, but if you look at our halftime scores, we’re right there with everybody. We have grown and we’re playing better football than we’ve played the whole year, so we keep talking about our breakthrough moment, and we’re looking for one tonight.”

Tonight is also Fill the Food Truck Friday, and fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for the Pella Community Food Shelf. The truck will be located at the entrance of the football stadium at 7 pm. Coverage of Eagles football against Davis County tonight can be heard live on the KRLS2 stream at KNIAKRLS.com, beginning with pregame coverage at 6:30 pm.
