The community of Baxter is looking for public input tonight on conceptual landscape designs that were developed through the Community Visioning Program. It involves a partnership with Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program, which assists small towns in improving their streets and roads, walkability, and overall community design. Baxter is involved due to high-speed traffic on State Street and a lack of sidewalks on West Avenue.
During tonight’s 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. community meeting, Baxter residents can provide feedback on landscape concepts developed by professionals from Iowa State University Extension, Trees Forever, and the Iowa Department of Transportation. The input received will be used to final plans to improve safe travel in Baxter, as well as the community’s appearance.
