More than halfway through the girls swim season, five Norwalk student-athletes competing for Des Moines Lincoln this fall have posted some of the team’s top times.
According to results on gobound.com, Norwalk junior Mallory Betts has recorded the Rails’ top time in the 50-yard freestyle at 28.75 seconds and is second fastest in the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Junior Hannah Smith is currently Lincoln’s fastest swimmer in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:11.86, and also ranks third in the 100 and 200 freestyle events. Sophomore Eva Smith has the team’s top 200 free time of 2:12.97 and ranks second in the 500 free.
In relay events, Betts and Eva Smith are both members of the Rails’ fastest times in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Hannah Smith and freshmen Kayla Carrington and Ella Basinger all swam on the team’s fastest 200 medley relay of the year.
Lincoln sports a 5-2 dual record so far this season and also placed second in their home invitational, putting the Rails at 9-3 overall. Their next meet is Tuesday when they host Marshalltown.
