The Knoxville City Council approved plat 4 in the Veterans District at their meeting on Monday.

The plat will include several residential lots, a future school site, the laundry building site, a future pedestrian crossing, and a future ballfield site. The 45.71 acre portion of the VA District will be subdivided for their respective purposes. The process also included a revised 28E agreement, where the city acquired more of the land in the VA District from the county. City Manager Heather Ussery says it’s nice to see how quickly progress has been made in the area.

“When we approved this and when the county initially got the land from the federal government it was something that we thought was going to take a lot longer but it’s exciting and we are happy and thrilled that it’s going quicker and the progress with everything evolving is going to be a really great addition overall to the community in terms of housing as well as quality of life improvements.”
